- R Turner Review added: 2018.08.13★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆I purchased a car from David Platts, co-owner of PB Powder Coating in June 2017. I viewed it at their premises in Gainsborough. Given that the front tyres were low on tread, I asked David to switch front to rear before I collected the car. When I arrived this had been done and I drove off in it.
The next weekend, having by this point covered around 400 miles in it, I was preparing the car for a track day. I went to check the wheel bolt torque and discovered that they were on so tight I could not loosen a single bolt. When I got to the last wheel, the front near side, I found that the wheel was only held on with three bolts and that the fourth had been sheared off in the hub.
I messaged David about this, but,of course, he ignored me.
This man runs a powder coating company, dealing with wheels every day, and he is completely unaware that wheel bolts are supposed to be correctly torqued, and not put with hundreds of pounds of force.
However, of more concern, he is the type of man who is prepared to risk the life of one of his customers for the sake of a few pounds. Use them entirely at your own risk!
